Credentialing (Blockchain)

Current Situation

  • Now done with manila folders, phone calls, and emails, causing inconsistencies, redundant effort, and manual redo, payers are searching for consistent, streamlined communications in multiparty administrative problems.
  • Providers are searching for immutable interoperability in their onboarding and delegated credentialing processes.

Goals and Objectives

Provide immutable, transparent, multiparty consistency of data access and update, with privacy.

Technology Deployed

Blockchain has the promise of establishing one immutable source of a provider’s credentials; shared by many, updated by the authorized, for hospitals themselves and payers dealing with many hospitals.

Use Case Summary

While in its infancy as a technology, multiple consortiums and companies are addressing specific use cases with blockchain. Technology may not be the problem with this transformation. Governance and cooperation among all in the “chain” may be harder.
