Digital Behavioral Health Therapy

Current Situation

Access to behavioral and mental health services is constrained by a shortage of behavioral and mental health professionals and limited insurance coverage, along with perceived stigma associated with needing these services. Students need mental health support as they navigate student life and school pressures.

Goals and Objectives

Improve convenient access to care by offering therapy online. Reduce the need for off campus visits and reduce the costs of care by providing access to health coaches and therapists online. Address behavioral and mental health issues that impact student/faculty performance. Support students who may be under significant performance stress.

Technology Deployed

Virtual visits, mobile applications, online support sites, conversational AI and chatbots, and patient mental health assessments

Use Case Summary

Digital behavioral health therapy can address the barriers of access, costs, and clinician shortages by providing consumers digital therapeutic tools that enable students to connect with an appropriate behavioral or mental health professional online based on self-assessment of their mental health or recommendation by a healthcare provider.
