Current Situation
Facility-based live production is highly dependent upon good communications between the show producer, director, remote sources, and production crew staff to instruct and execute a show. Intercom systems are used for this communication.
Goals and Objectives
Cloud-based live remote production must address the same level of reliable communications as facility-based production but with the added flexibility required to address multisite and distributed operations.
Technology Deployed
SIP (session initiation protocol) and Voice-over-IP (VoIP), Dante, RAVENNA, and AES67 for audio over IP (AoIP)
Use Case Summary
In broadcast applications, remote reporters or other sources are often connected to the intercom system through compressed or Dante standards-based IP audio. For remote connections, digital audio over IP must be compressed and/or transmitted in a format that accommodates higher network latencies.
