Current Situation
Managed service providers are predominantly facility or outside broadcast van or truck based. While some cloud-based remote productions continue after COVID-19, most live events are still produced the traditional way, especially with tier 1 events.
Goals and Objectives
The goal and objectives of managed service offerings will predominantly be cloud-based solutions. Integrated and automated cloud-based production systems will be the dominant offering with interactive social, polling, gaming, and other data services including stats, closed captioning, and localization.
Technology Deployed
Cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions will be combined and used by managed service providers to offer turnkey solutions. AI/ML technologies will be used for workflow processing throughout the production content chain.
Use Case Summary
Tiers 2 and 3 live sporting events will dominate cloud-based production services and will eventually be adopted by tier 1 over time as technology, latency, and reliability improve. Video-on-demand applications in both television and motion picture studios will leverage some cloud-based productions such as with the use of virtual sets and augmented reality staging and services. Many cloud-based managed service providers will offer end-to-end turnkey solutions that include production, distribution, and monetization services.
