Supplier Portals

Current Situation

Today’s process is still very manual, whereby supplier notifies customer that shipment is ready and/or customer notifies supplier that parts are needed. Information is shared via email attachments and hardcopy documents to driver. This process is time consuming and ties up costly internal resources by doing non-value-added activities.

Goals and Objectives

The goal of this use case is to substantially reduce the number of inquiries between suppliers, customers, and carriers while shifting some of the costs and burden of order capture and fulfillment onto the supplier.

Technology Deployed

Enterprise hardware, personal devices, cloud, mobile, connectivity services, object recognition software, and transportation management systems

Use Case Summary

A supplier portal allows suppliers to self-service through access to the application (TMS) to communicate completeness and availability of orders, create transport orders, provide bookings, and document upload. Suppliers can also track and trace shipments to ensure timely delivery to the customer.
